BID Group – Bolton
Complete Combat Efficient Gas Heating System
The Challenge
The BID group (Industrial Doors) were adding to their current propery portfolio a new building close to their main site based in Bolton, and required a complete Combat gas heating system installing as there was still gas on site which had always proven to be the best solution over other heating systems, providing a cost effective and efficient way to heat buildings over many years.
The Solution
Combat HVAC was called in to do an initial survey for the new building as the BID Group have Combat heaters already installed in their existing factory in Bolton, which are proving to be a great solution to the gas heating of the building.
Combat HVAC then put CK Services 1990 forward to the client as an installer of choice that they would recommend – and the project manager then got in contact with our director Andy Smith. He arranged to go to site and meet the project manager to discuss the system design and a drawing of the site was given to him. We did a design on the drawing plans and a system was agreed.
The new Combat Efficient Gas Heating System included two floor mounted Combat ELG 105 gas heaters, which were specified by combat and included room sealed flues so as there would be no contaminates in the atmosphere coming into contact with combustion. The heaters are also modulating, so they are very efficient and can ramp up if heat is required on really cold days. The installation also included five Combat de-stratification fans fitted with thermostats so no heat would be wasted in the roof space and these would blow the heat back down to staff levels – again, increasing the efficiency of the system and cutting down on gas usage.
The client was also installing a new gas fired curing booth for their products, so the new gas pipe work needed to able to take this on as well as the heating. Andy Smith from CK Services 1990 came up with a new pipe work design and decided to use pressfit 80mm pipe work around to the heaters and the gas booth and drop down in size to standard steel pipework for the appliances.
The Result
The project manager accepted our quotation and planned design drawing, and the order was given to go ahead with the system. The order was placed with Combat for the equipment needed and our inhouse team completed the installation in good time for the company moving into the new building as well as the gas pipework for the curing booth. The client was so happy with the neatness of the installation they asked us to flue the curing booth for them as well. All works were completed and a gas safety certificate was issued for the new building and the appliances.
